Looking at Things a Little Differently

Looking at Things a Little Differently. I discovered the MIM – the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. What an extraordinary experience! I was in a photographer’s paradise…not because I could take pics of instruments. The variety of materials, the colors, the textures, the angles,…I could go on and on.

According to Wikipedia: The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Opened in April 2010,[1] it is the largest museum of its type in the world. The collection of over 15,000 musical instruments and associated objects includes examples from nearly 200 countries and territories, representing every inhabited continent. Some larger countries such as the United StatesMexicoIndiaChina, and Brazil have multiple displays with subsections for different types of ethnic, folk, and tribal music.

Because of the variety that I encountered, I shot some work that does not focus on the instrument itself, but on the parts that make the whole.

Please plan on visiting the MIM whenever you are in Phoenix. There are everchanging exhibits, plus exhibits of instruments from around the world. It is quite interactive.

I only saw a portion of the museum. Next times I am in Phoenix, I will schedule a full day there.

This pic is one of my favs, could be because I am a jazz fan. Stay cool.
